Flyer - Challenge the #Outdated

Flyers are DLE (a4 folded into 3)

White Ribbon asked men to challenge the #Unspoken rules that boys and men are handed down, based on outmoded ideas of how to be a man. These rules, like boys don't cry carry harmful messages about how men should and shouldn't behave.

Challenge the #Outdated focuses on the outdated stereotypes about masculinity that are explicitly told to boys and young men such as Show them who’s boss, Kids should keep quiet and Treat em mean keep em keen. Ideas like these are harmful, limit relationships and children’s social development. As a result, boys and men can end up copying the same unhealthy attitudes and behaviours, continuing a cycle that can lead to violence.

Men can and do resist some of these outdated ideas about manhood. In modelling healthy masculine behaviours, and challenging the stereotypes of what it means to be a man, men can help to redefine masculinity around a kaupapa of respect, aroha, and the struggle for gender equality. This begins with challenging the #Outdated rules, challenging each other, and challenging ourselves to change. It’s time to shake off the old and reveal the new.

These items are new and will be shipped towards the end of October.

    Welcome

We welcome your support in this year’s November Campaign as we continue to reduce men’s violence against women by promoting healthy masculinity. There are awesome things about being a boy that we need to celebrate, so we're taking back the phrase 'boys will be boys'. Let's show the limitless possibilities when we break out of the 'man box' and demonstrate healthy masculinity.
